So I got a cable modem, and it is noticeably faster than the DSL I was running. Now I'm worried there's a down side.

it's more expensive?

Gosh.

No, it's actually cheaper for me. Package deal. Switched my phone over too, so now I can tell my phone company to drop dead--which I've wanted to do for years, of course.

Fear not, you'll be wanting to tell your cable company to drop dead soon enough.

Yeah, but now I get to tell off AT&T and Earthlink, so the two-for-one aspect has me chuffed. You don't know how much I've hated Earthlink--they charge a service fee to send me a fucking bill, the cheap cunts. And all there service centers are in Formosa or some shit, so if there's ever a problem the people don't speak such good english, and there's about a 10 second delay in the line.
Me: This fucker's not working correctly.
Later the same day:
Them: Kff Kafff Kafff Kaff Keeefuvawah?
Me: I'm getting cable...

Besides, I figure if I switch often enough, I'll never have to pay anybody...

Ha! True - keep riding those "introductory offers" for all their worth, then leap frog to the next one.
I had Earthlink years ago also and - oh man - did I hate them. Almost had to get a lawyer when the sent a collection agency after me - for bills I had paid. I even had the a letter from my bank (that was no easy task) and the cancelled checks I mailed them - clearly stamped with their endorsement. Still gave me shit for months. Got a call one day from a rep telling me the issue had been resolved - I told him there was never an issue and had him cancel my service on the spot. Luckily my agreement with them expired during all the fuss. Terrible company and customer service.
Congrats on getting out :)
- Funny - I seem to have trouble today with "their" and "they're"blackfrancis
