Had this conversation today...
Your dream band would be comprised of....?
My list:
guitarist: Edge (yes, I know there is Jimmy Page and a slew of others)
bass: Jaco Pastorious
drums: Stewart CopelandIt wouldn't work of course...would be the busiest mess ever, but that's mine. Who is in your dream band?
- CyBrain0
I love the idea of Jaco and Copeland in the same band, but instead of Edge, can we have Dave Navarro or Johnny Marr?
- Dave Navarro? How in the world is he anywhere near good enough to play with copeland?CygnusZero4
- Johnny Marr!!! I forgot about him. OMG that would be amazing. Ok. :)monkeyshine
- what is wrong with Navarro?? Name me a better guitarist of the last 30 years.CyBrain
- he's good too. its more a rickenbacker over les paul for me. :)monkeyshine
- um... it would be impossible to list how many people are better (though I still think he's alright...)ismith
- There is nothing wrong with Navarro.... People hate him cause he's kinda media whore. But he can play some godamn guitar.marychain

Heres the thing with having Pastorious as your Bass player, while he probably is the best Bass player out there, To put him up against a great guitarist like Edge/Page/Frusciante/ Whatever, They are just gonna clash.. You kinda need a leader guitarist or Bass player, not two amazing of both.

John Frusciante (guitar)
Flea (bass)
Travis Barker (drums)
Chris Cornell (lead vocals)
Jamie Foxx (backup vocals)Quincy Jones (producer)
yup, FTW

It's true about Edge though I think he could wrap some nice, melodic guitar around a Pastorious bass. Same could be said adding Copeland into the mix.
I'd add Sheila E in for percussion just to make it even weirder.
