The problem is that is usb powered and the source needs to be active an digital. I'm sure there's a solution out there but it would be better to spend the money on other speakers.

Sorry, it's not USB. It says "HDMI IN", that's for the HDMI cable. You need a 3.5 to RCA adapter.

From Wikipedia: USB (Universal Serial Bus) is a way of setting up communication between a computer and peripheral devices.
You need something that understands USB to use something that is connected/controlled by USB.
Basically, you'd have to hook the USB speaks up to like a computer/laptop or something, then route the TV's output to the computer's input and then allow the computer's input signal to be sent through to the speaks.
Or buy new speaks. :D
