Researchers were surprised to find in an ongoing study that people GIVEN heroin were said to have "substantially" reduced their use of street drugs. Isn't it just because it's fucking free?
If someone offered me free food, I'd stop going to the shops.
How much is it costing us? £15,000 per user per year, supervised heroin injecting is three times more expensive than other treatments.
And there are good citizens out their being refused 'expensive' cancer treatment that costs about the same.
Makes me fucking livid.
Rant over.

looks like you've calculated the costs and come up with the answers :)

Err, £15,000 may be more than other treatments, but think about how much money the police force are saving.
I'd say it's a good deal cheaper spending £15,000 a year giving junkies smack than it is in criminal compensation, police man hours, court time and prison sentences.
How much does a prisoner cost the tax payer annually??
You're not looking at the bigger picture.
