Why is good design relevant?
Why is good design relevant?
Would you eat a fresh, perfectly seasoned sirloin steak...
...that was covered with flies?
I was at a barbecue and I left my steak alone for a second while I did something....came back and there was this juicy, tender morsel...covered with 8 flies for like 12 seconds. Its still the same piece of meat but it instantly lost its appeal. Yeah I still ate it...but I wasnt that excited about it and it didnt taste half as good.
Truly I am spoiled on the most basic of levels to a person that has not eaten in a while, but I psychologically want my food to look edible and delicious.
Why is this? For the same reason fashion, design and other luxuries make their appearance in society.
And that is why....

because humans enjoy beauty.
your fly metaphor is a bit off though, the steak still looked the same.

You ate it?
You filthy fucker, you ate a piece of animal carcass that had fly vomit and tiny little footprints of dog faeces all over it.
BLECH.

Personally it would be more to do with the fact that flies hang out on shit all day, rather than it looking different with flies on. I get your point though.
