Nice site

yeah, nice work, but what is core? seems exactly like cargo, but not as well implemented. for instance, clicking on a project link or thumbnail does not move the window back to the top of the project's content. makes it kind of a pain to browse.

Sorry, for those of you not familiar core is a CMS for designers in the vein of cargo: http://weareastronauts.org/core-…
I went with core because frankly, it seems everyone has a cargo folio :D
- yet you made yours to look exactly like cargo :Perikjonsson

I still think you should leave out the sketchbook stuff.
- dMullins0
Subjectivity, I guess. I can't draw worth a fuck, but I don't think sketches of the word "FUCK" necessarily represent any of your talents (which are myriad and refreshing).
- d_rek0
dMulllins,
I understand that - maybe if the sketches more directly related to design process and not just random weird things? (I do have this these things stuffed in a drawer somewhere ;)
However, and I will attest to this from personal experience, people and employers seem to be genuinely interested and amused by my ability to draw. So based on that, i've decided to throw in a sketchbook section - I still have a lot more to add to it too :D

i like it®

I'm torn.
On the one hand, you have some solid work. Keep it up.
On the other, I have to agree with dMullins. Your inability to draw reveals your weaknesses, so I would leave them out. In fact, your drawings are on par with hubb7design's web layouts. The only difference is that hubb knows how to give and take a crit, and therefore, he'll get better.
You remember hubb, right? He was the guy who was asking for help on his admittedly poor web design, and you responded with condescension and abuse.
And now you're showing off your portfolio, asking for feedback.
How bout that.
If you ever want to work as a professional designer, I suggest doing four things:
• Lose the sketchbook images and enroll in your first drawing class.
• Lose your shit attitude.
• Limit the name-dropping on your site. (Did you do anything all by yourself – other than pose with your back to the camera and cut out letters that spell "FUCK"?)
• Reset your profile on this site, because as far as I'm concerned, you're d_one here.Good luck.
Sincerely,
K_arma

I must've missed something K_arma...
The sketchbook at the very least shows an ability to draw. I would just filter that more appropriately when you're actually out there looking for work. I am guilty of not filtering myself either, but then again, am not looking for work at the moment either...
Nice work d_rek!

Nice one. But I'm afraid i have to agree regarding sketchbook.

bump for the working stiffs :)
@K_arma,
Hmm.. I appreciate your objective (and even subjective criticisms). Granted i've surely made past transgressions and errors in my life and more particularly, on this forum, I can at least be humbled and learn from them.
If i've offended or upset anyone here I am truly apologetic. Generally my intent is to offer constructive criticism yet admittedly even I am prone to bouts of juvenile, inappropriate or nonsensical discourse.
I am not perfect nor do I pretend to be. Yet for all my imperfections I can at least stand proud for the fact that I never made any of my mistakes standing behind a wall of anonymity. I am what I am and I make no excuses nor have any regrets for the things i've said or done.
your loving friend,
derekps.
What company do you work for in the Southeast MI area? I ask so that this Punk-Ass Noobie Grad Who Can't Keep Himself From Being a D_ick Because I Think I Know Everything, But In Actuality, Can't Even Seem To Hold A Pencil Straight designer would save my breath and effort when and if the time comes.

^ I'll agree with that. Derek is almost always positively-minded, and I can't count the number of times he and I have bitched to one another about how fucking rude people on here are sometimes.
/perplexed @ K_arma.
P.S., someone write me a love letter too.

Normally I really dislike that trendy super tight kerning but for the letter forms in your logo is works really well

you will never work in this town again drek. NEVER.
