Does this LINE make sense I meant to say, not LIKE.
- CygnusZero40
Shit, the line is "Who would I be without wounds"
Sorry
- airey0
what. the. fuck?
- airey0
wounds:
1. An injury, especially one in which the skin or another external surface is torn, pierced, cut, or otherwise broken.
2. An injury to the feelings.
- airey0
are you sure you mean wounds?

What would I be without wounds?
- That makes more sense?CygnusZero4
- woundless!_salisae_
- Wounds make you what you are. Wounds make you who you are. They amount to the same meaning._salisae_
- But it could also mean where you are in life, i.e. in terms of maturity.gramme

Yes, loosely meaning when someone tries to knock you down, that makes you a better/wiser person. That sort of thing. So the wounds make you who you are.
- airey0
right. yeah, i see what you mean but that phrase is completely wrong in conveying the message.
- Well you have any better ideas? Any kind of metaphor to say something similar will help.CygnusZero4

Maybe I just need to adjust the words a little to make sense, I figured its not proper english because you cant find it on yahoo or google using quotes which is not a good sign.
- it's proper english_salisae_
- I dont know why not a single person on the internet has ever used it though.CygnusZero4
- "And odd question" is not proper english_salisae_
- no one has said it in that exact way and posted it on the internet. no big deal._salisae_
- CygnusZero40
That a little too direct, I need something as abstract as possible.

technically it makes sense....
but it's not an expression....no one says that
that is to say.....you are the first person I have ever heard use that combination of words.....but I understand what you are saying.it's like when Kirk said "I NEED my pain"
same type of thing I would think

Isn't the meaning more 'where would I be without having been wounded'? Wounds are of the moment, and they heal. Seems to me you're alluding to strength gained from being wounded and then healing, many times over.
Or I could be talking bollocks.

"what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger"
- tgqt0
You would be a man.
- ukit0
Yes, it's proper English
- gramme0
Seems fine to me.
