Seems like everybody aims to become a director of some sort these days. It doesn't matter if you are 22 and only designed 2 sites for your mates - you can call yourself an Art Director...
Does anybody still want to be a designer?
- ckentish0
really? i don't know any 22 year old art directors.
and a designer is an art director - just depends how much control/say/power you have over a job...just a label mate

the art director status has been taken for granted by everyone these days. just because designers decided a course of action a certain concept should go down, they immediately class themselves as an AD.
right best get back to flipping these burgers
- btw i am directing myself whilst flipping these badboys so i may just write on my CV burger chef as wellWeLoveNoise

Directors... 1/1000 is not an opportunistic vulture-like cunt looking for "input" from the crew and throwing their own work on their immediate by phone or e-mail, demanding "feedback". Something screws up your brain when you become a Director, since most of them say "I don't have time for that shit any more".
Maybe it's just my experience.
Good Directors do their own work. They say, "I want this, and that" with good manners and never ask more from you but the place you occupy in the company; they incorporate your ideas in the overall job, naming the people who did it; they protect the team they work with, finding them opportunities to evolve and leave their wing.
How many good Directors have you met?
- Most designers have shitty ideas and don't want to hear it. How many good designers have you met? or maybe it's just me.zarkonite

In ad agencies people on placement can be AD's, it's a job role and not a mark of seniority. In digital it is a level of seniority.
I have AD's on half of what some designers are on for example
