Ha very cool 7point. Those massive data storage platters are awesome. Can you imagine lugging one of those things around?!

in college some friends and i had an office space on campus and there was an old storage closet in there that we never opened. one day we had to move some furniture around so we opened up this closet and it was filled with old data tapes and spools and all sorts of antique computer equipment. i grabbed anything i could carry and brought it home, very proud of my loot.
my dad tossed it thinking it was all junk.

Also love how lots of those ancient machines have no output device accept for some flashing lights. You program them by flipping switches like mad, and the only thing you get in return is a few flashing lights. LOL

sweet pix! i used to work for cray and ibm, and i recognize some of those things from other museums - very cool, esp. the cray-1. i've looked inside those things. and they are just bundles and bundles of hand-soldered wires. monumentally amazing achievement for its time.
there's a small cray museum in chippewa falls, wi, near the cray facility there. they have some neat stuff too...
