although I didn't know him, my thoughts and sympathy to his friends and family - he looks so young in the photos. puts a lot of my petty worries and stresses into perspective. tragic news.

_____ ______ ______ _____
about the artist_Having studied at The Royal Academy for Fine Arts in Antwerp, Bart Van de Vel knows and loves graphic design, a fact which is clearly evident in every piece within this exhibition.
Geometric shapes filled with colour - initially abstract yet forming simple images and concepts, translated beautifully to the viewer; amusing and endearing characters (Bart's penchant for the subtle and witty shines through in certain pieces, displaying a certain aptitude for the succinct oneliner); well-defined illustration. The diverse skillset that Bart possesses not only means viewers of this exhibition should expect the eclectic, but also that Bart is an artist and designer who has focused himself throughout his studies and who is rightfully proud of the work he now creates.
The popular culture references are frequent and appreciated in Bart's work, this can only be expected from someone who cites his influences as mostly cinema, comics, tattoo-art, grafitti and cartoons. The concept of having an ongoing exhibition that presents pieces for the viewer to actually make use of in everyday life is one that appeals greatly to Defunktion.
Every piece on display in this exhibition can be downloaded and used as a desktop wallpaper for your computer. If you like a piece - take it.
Bart is now focusing on establishing Tuig (the Dutch word for something akin to scum!), a collective of graphic designers. Don't let the self-effacing name put you off though - Tuig are passionate designers, a friends collective, and if Bart's work is anything to go by, destined for great things.
We hope you enjoy and make use of this exciting exhibition, Defunktion welcomes Bart Van de Vel as it's first long-term resident.

Everytime I hear something like this, it shakes my perspective of life for a moment and it reminds me of how the life is precious and how we can just go at any moment.
I didn't know the guy but i surely interact with him on QBN at moment or another. It's very sad. I'am very sorry for you, his actual friends and family. :(
Is it too much personal to tell us what happend to him Kiggen?
- janne760
i can't sleep. one last thing: QBN has been informed. Jason Kristofer let me know he is shocked.
the cause of death is not relevant now. let the ones close to him mourn for now. talk later. thanks for all the respect in this thread.
see you people tomorrow.
keep this bumped. thanks.
