I have a MacBook Pro and I have wanted to bump the RAM for a while, a thread here as spurred me on. When I went to Crucial I got stuck on which Mac I am buying for:
Apple MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (15-inch DDR3) MB470LL/A

go to crucial.com and have it run a system check by downloading their scanner tool. crucial will scan your system and tell you what type of ram you need. piece of cake yo.

Scans your mac then takes you to the correct ones for you to buy. Easy.

good luck with the new macbooks, i think changing ram might void your warranty since you need to take the entire back of the machine off...but here is a video on how to do it safely.
