One of my friends is working on a new twitter interface called Brizzly.
It's invite / signup code only right now, but the UI is pretty damn awesome, especially with the support they've baked in for multiple accounts and groups.
If you like twitter you should check it out. If I get some invite codes I'll post em here.

Looks interesting, but I wonder if there is room for these kinds of companies.
What would stop Twitter from just looking at what Brizzly did and copying the best parts?

@ukit I guess the plan is to also incorporate Facebook and Myspace into the fold sometime soon as well.
I think there's room for all sorts of companies, even the smaller ones. As long as you can stay lean and be smart about your expenses I say go for it.
I think most of the interesting stuff coming out these days is from the smaller companies. I myself am a huge proponent of that model. Shit, I run a software company with only 2 full time people, and a hand full of contractors when necessary.

no I'm not knocking small companies - I've been (and am) involved in stuff like this. I was thinking more of companies that are built on the back of Twitter and other social media sites specifically.
I guess you could point to Friendfeed as an example of one that did succeed and was bought. On the other hand, you've got sites like Streamy, which launched a couple months back and seemed to be really well executed, but didn't really take off as far as I can tell.
- yeah i'm interested to see where it goes personally...sublocked

doesnt Tweetdeck incorporate most of this functionality already ?
- I find it the UI a lot nicer with Brizzly. Seeing pics in line, and the "Mute" function is quite helpfulBeeachboy
- interesting, I like having it as a seperate app tho rather than web based, I guess I can still do that wit Brizzly with some hackery chuck it in my dockblackspade
