Why are hipsters mostly white americans?

To be honest I don't really get all the hate on hipsters... I mean yea some of them look stupid and gay but who cares. Its their style and they like it.
I actually think its interesting how they wear all sorts of weird stuff, some of its creative, some of its stupid. I guess I like the idea of not wearing the simple, expected, every day outfits... even though of course they have expected outfits in the hipster tend.
Its kinda like the fixie thing, yes some of the people in that scene are total douches but who fucking cares about them! those bikes look awesome, all the different colors and styles... as a graphic designer I think its super interesting. Way better than a normal looking bike... don't get me wrong I love and appreciate other styles out there but its good to see some funky designs out there.
