Looking into purchasing a light meter for some studio product photography.
Can anyone recommend a good brand or actual light meter? Price range is probably $350 or less.
Thanks

You can try and see Bowens (UK) offer or Multiblitz (Germany).
Try to look for radio frequency triggers.

I've been a photographer for a while now. It's about time I invest in a light meter. Can't keep borrowing other people's. Thanks for the thread chaps!
I've used both Minolta and Sekonic ones and I honestly don't know the difference.
- TomBac0
Don't think there is much difference, but you better check.
Maybe You can get Minolta cheaper since company does not exist more.

The transmitter will fire flash from light meter, pocket wizards do the same form camera. you want both.
- schjetne0
Well to be fair, a pocket wizard IS a transmitter. It's just a brand name.

this is probably not the best way to meter, but...
i used a zoom lens with my backup camera body and a radio trigger attached to the hotshoe as my lightmeter - just shot a frame zoomed in tight to wherever i wanted to meter, then looked at the histogram.
you're probably better off getting a real meter.

If you're flat broke and don't mind misfires and a bit of annoyance, you could try out "poverty wizards". You'll find them on eBay.
- Or, you know, here:
