Dilemma, go with the school with better professors for a higher price or slighty dumber prof. for a lower cost.

get a book and watch some video tutorials...
... i blew $60k on 'gotoAndPlay("withYourself"); type instructors

i went to FIT, there was only one teacher there who knew Flash/Actionscript coding. You shouldn't need a class to learn Flash animating, but if you do, there won't be anything more advanced than internet tutorials, and probably far less advanced since they cater to non-techy people.
Shouldn't be part of the decision really, by the time they let you learn Flash at FIT, professors may come and go.

yeh learn it yourself - that's all a teacher will guide you to do anyway - do you really want to progress at the speed of the slowest person in the class, and pay for the privilege ?

I honestly can't sit and learn it without being distracted. I've had those prof at FIT, thats why I'm contemplating on which route to go.

Dickhead comment:
So what you're saying is you need someone to hold your hand for 3 hours instead of slapping a little self-control into yourself w/the payoff being a load of cash still in your pocket and the self respect that 'YOU CAN DO IT!!'?- yes i need that spoon feeding, and its just a couple hundred for 1 classspookykat

You are willing to go to college to learn one thing, and one thing only -- that being Flash, and essentially, AS 3.0 I assume -- for the cost of easily $15 - 20k a year?
And yet, you rationalize this by saying you can't sit still for an hour or two a day?
That's the worst logic I've ever heard, and it isn't going to strengthen your OOP skillz.

"Can't sit still for 3 hours and learn it myself"
Fair enough, but believe me the stuff you learn at school won't be the be all end all. You'll need to be able to teach yourself new stuff your whole career. Why not start now and save a few grand in the process?;)

Have fun learning to use the pen tool in SVA/FIT.dMullins

By the way, I love how we're berating a guy for wanting to go to school

^^hahahah!!

Solution:
Take $20k that you would have spent on school, use it to live/get-by for a year, while spending at least an hour to two hours a day/night learning AS3.0After a year of that, you will be light years ahead of whatever you would have learned in a formal upper institution -- which I can only imagine is how to navigate the new tools layout in CS4, and how to write a for or while loop.

i get what guys mean tho ha

ask lots of Q's here and in other forums too...
... the 'tough stuff' that I had to battle through in Flash - not one of my 'instructors' in school would have a clue where to begin... or they'd of been up on the Internet posting in a forum themselves looking for solutions. :)
It's all online - everything you need to be dangerous with AS3. :)

Just get out there on the street and start flashing.

SVA's web program is about $5k without the cost of books and transportation. Its not THAT bad I assume. Although its true I can save a couple grand but taking a class gives you a well rounded education, oppose to learning it yourself.

Both school sucks.
I would stick to flash course thats not at these art schools. Unless you are after credits.

Still seems like it would be more cost effective even to do online courses / certification programs. Unless you're specifically after the names SVA or FIT on your résumé.
