Where do you want to be?
I stayed at Sofetel London St James. Everyone told me its a little too touristy / quite at night but it was great. The service was good, close to everything. Everything in walking distance. And quite cheap.
- I was actually glad that the hotel wasnt hip-ish. Old business folks are quite at night.MrDinky

From what I find, after walking around them, it really depends on what you want to do. I was more keen on walking around seeing the sights.
And my hotel was perfect for that.

You should get it for around $200 a night, my brother stayed there a week or so ago.If you find anything thats 'cheap' in London make sure you know someone who stayed there and can recommend. There are some right rip off off joints.
I live in London and seen them. And no I wouldn't let my brother stay with me, least not doing what he was doing whilst he stayed there.

Nice one in Bayswater/Notting Hill
http://www.laterooms.com/en/hote…I was going down to see my we bro and seen that one on laterooms but they had no rooms left (the site said), thought i'd chance it and phoned up directly.
// Late rooms only have so many rooms allocated per hotel so even if their site says a hotel is fully booke, it might not be - so phone them//
I phoned the hotel and they said they had a room available.
A week or two later I arrived in London, dropped bags off at hotel - had to wait till later to check into room.
Came back nearer lunch to check in, got shown up to my room and was in awe! For the price of a normal room they'd given me the Honeymoon Suite - Jacuzzi bath with mood lighting, masssive bed, two balconies (on front of hotel), hifi and massive plasma etc.Nice hotel with lots of good eateries around it.
An AMMMMAZING greek place a few doors along.
