some of those shadows are completely un-natural
- and the reflection-maps are duplicated between shots********

where to proceed from here, then? how does he do these shoots? maybe some outdoor lighting equip i can grab off ebay and a nice cam + lens, will that help ?

maybe he/she the cars where shot in studio and just photoshoped.

maybe he/she shot the cars inside a studio and had the backgrounds applied in photoshop.

shooting glossy cars in bright light in a city usually gets you reflections like this image in his book:
It's possible he simply photoshops alot to mellow out reflections....
