Is it bullshit?
yes or no.
I wanna say I think it's crap...but yet again...I won't try it so I must somewhat believe it possible.
Anybody done it?

I think it's about as effective as artists putting subliminal messages in their songs....
so yes

I've seen people at a outdoor carnival tripping balls over this. scared out of their minds when the hypnotist said that everyone in the audience were the worst monsters they've ever seen in their lives.

back in high school we had one come in and he put a few of our classmates under and made them do all sorts of weird shit. cluck like a chicken. sing. dance. half way through he called out to the audience and said a few of you in the audience have been hypnotized as well blah blah, if you have and you want, please come down. my girlfriend who i'd been dating for a couple weeks got up without saying a word and walked down under hypnosis.
secretly i was saying to myself "make her want to show me her boobs later" over and over in my head to the hypnotist. it's real dude.

Yeah...I remember people at school (at a hypnotist presentation) who were extremely shy doing things they normally would never do ........so I don't know

In the run up to our daughter being born we had a course of hypnotherapy called Hypno-birthing. Its basically a way to pre-dispose your mind to being relaxed and ready to go through birth. Generally a lot of the pain associated with child birth is a result of tension and fear about the process.
Primarily its for the female, obviously, but if the father is going to be present they too need to be relaxed and in a good frame of mind, so the course is for couples.
We were hypnotised by a qualified hypnosis therapist once a week for 8 weeks. It definitely works, and we were both lulled into a maleable trancelike state every week.
The thing is, you are never unaware of where you are or what you are doing, and you would never do something you didn't think was okay to do, but you are far more susceptible to suggestion. If you've submitted yourself to the hypnotist's suggestions it does sort of feel like they are controlling you because if they say "lift your arm" you do, without really bothering to consider why.
You could easily refuse to lift your arm, but you have no reason to, so you just do it.
Its an odd sensation. A bit like a waking dream, or those moments in between sleep and awake when you are really exhausted or jetlagged.
