OK, so the TV is telling me that a hurricane is heading for hawaii. Huh? In my 41 years on the planet these types of storms in the pacific were always called typhoons, and in the atlantic they were hurricanes. Sure, it's all semantics, but that was the procedure. And in fact, they still talk about typhoons when they talk about Japan..but..what? If it's hitting hawaii now they call it a "hurricane"? Why? Is the concept to difficult for americans now?
