In the market in Toronto. I'm not that familiar with downtown, but are there neighborhoods/buildings that are win? and are there areas to avoid? looking for min 2 bedroom.
i heard a little about liberty village.. and more north up to mt pleasant..is that uptown? midtown?
want to hear from fellow torontonians

Liberty Village ain't what it used to be.
Parkdale / Drake / Gladstone area full of hipsters.
Lots of development around Lansdowne / Bloor / Dupont. There's pretty much condos / lofts everywhere you look now, so just pick the flavour you want...
Depends what you're looking for really.

liberty village is so gey now... it the hipster dufus place to be...
Hit the east side, its a bit more chill. Stay away from King West, CityPlace, Peter St. & Richmond St area.- checkbrandelec
- What's wrong with King West?Andrew_D

I work in Liberty Village and live in a loft (it's got 3/4 walls) http://www.alexmoloney.com/charl… . It's a 1 bedroom +den, current market value is around $275,000 and that's without parking.
A 2 bedroom in LV will probably run you $300,000+, I think. Well, depending on what building you want to live in. The Toy Factory lofts are crazy expensive, but there are some other buildings around and Townhomes that are a possible alternative.
- hipster!!!imnotadesigner
- thanks a_d, would parking be extra $10k be a safe estimate?brandelec
- More like $20,000+ for parking. It all depends on what building you're looking at. $10G prebuild, maybe.Andrew_D

you may also want to look in North York area (still in Toronto)
Its away from the core and not as crazy in price

yonge / Mt Pleasant / Eglinton is nice area, I rent around there. It's clean, quiet and safe. There isn't a ton of development condo wise in the area but I think there are a few places just going up now. Good park spaces, some decent places to eat, shop, catch a movie etc.

If you want something family friendly in North York (basically midtown Toronto), this is in development http://www.emeraldcitycondos.ca/… and very near to a mall and subway station.
- Sheppard & Don Mills is midtown?Andrew_D
- Not even sure, but I saw this area referred to as midtown before. North York is big.rzrffglyr
- not really midtown.... just more like North York. ps. I worked on that project as well..imnotadesigner
- don't consider North York part of the city of Toronto? It's not GTA like richmond hill. Oh im over it lol.rzrffglyr
- you worked on that website?rzrffglyr
- no not the website. I worked on the Presentation Centreimnotadesigner

"Launched earlier this year, Liberty Market Lofts will offer phenomenal live/work opportunities in this popular locale, with ceiling heights in most suites rising to an incredible 17 feet. For a limited time only, each loft purchase will come fully loaded with $10,000 worth of Apple equipment, so residents can take full advantage of Apple's latest gear for home and office."
- Haha... fuck, that place is struggling to sell units, man. They just rebranded it a month ago.Andrew_D

Anywhere north of Eglinton is considered the sticks according to some downtown diehards.... even though most of them came from towns where the population is never more than 5000.
I was born & raised in TO... and downtown is shit to me, everyone acts like they know toronto and hang out at all the coolest spots. Im over it... Id rather be living in the country- i get that feeling too.. i find some people are desperate to move dt. may be its like this in other cities toobrandelec
- I grew up in High Park and I'd rather be downtown, it just suits me better.Andrew_D
- I wouldn't doubt it. But like Andrew_D said, jsut visit some areas and see what feels right for you.imnotadesigner

Having moved from larger, more walkable cities I'm not that into mid-town TO, imnotta. TO is SOOOOOO car-centric it's crazy. Even downtown. It's getting better in the core, but the transit coverage and frequency here aren't that great.

Honestly, Brandelec, just go out and visit the different hoods and you'll know what feels right. I like where I'm set up, I can walk to almost everything, my office is a 10min bike ride away and my freelance gig's are all in the same hood I live in.
It just makes life easier for my situation being in King West.

I don't remember the name of the project, but they're building some condos in Riverdale just off broadview, nice area to raise a Family and great view of the city from the Don Valley.
- My buddy bought a place in there, looks sweet.Andrew_D
- whats the project called?imnotadesigner
- Can't remember, but I can picture it.Andrew_D

Personally I like living north of Bloor anything south of it is a headache, and I feel way too claustrophobic. I also like yonge/eglinton area because the 401 is basically right there, and I can easily escape the city.
- Aye, proximity to escape is a boon.pylon
- agree, escape route is neededbrandelec
- I have a lot of family/friends outside of Toronto so easy access to main highway was a must for me.canuck
- your family lives in the sticks?imnotadesigner

This development looks like it will be awesome.... built into an old Church on Annette St.
- Man, all the factories, warehouses, and churches in town are turning into condos.pylon
- Where's the industry / retail going? It's all getting pushed out to the burbs.pylon
- Kinda shitty, isn't it? Pretty soon rush hour will reverse direction.Andrew_D
- nice spacebrandelec
- Already true, in a way Andrew.pylon
