Both of these seem too beta-esque to make much sense of... kind of like wondering if the next years canon is better than next years nikon....

Hmmm. I think cargo has been out for a while. I just wanted to find out if anyone has tried both and had an opinion.

You're right, graphiknature, it does seem Cargo's been around, even if it says "Pre Release" in a big graphic....
Does anyone have experience with Cargo? It seems that Cargo hosts your site from the discussion at:
http://cargocollective.com/talk/…That explains why I could find no download link....

They do host it. Ive been using cargo now for about 3-4 months... GREAT system. Very intuitive, well planned and turn-key.

Oh my... anyone got a spare invite to cargo collective please?
- graphiknature0
The only thing that bothers me about Cargo is that they host it. Did you guys see this earlier today?

CARGO
CORE IS FAIL
- http://diftype.net/ – proof that CORE shouldn't be written off as a failure.ravi
- but I failed at linking.
http://diftype.com/ – should work now.ravi

I'm liking Cargo for the most part. I wish they didn't host it tho. The admin is very good and easy to use. Haven't tried Core.

You guys should see the new Core, it's absolutely amazing and it's so much more user friendly then Cargo especially if you want to customize it. Not to mention you run it on your own server.
Simon has been working so hard and he deserves some cred, I know this because I know him in person. Core 1.2 should be out soon and I personally can't wait to start using it, I'm currently working with Core 1.1 and I can't ask for much more.
My site is currently run on Core b0.5 and it nearly has no functions, if you compare it to the latest version it feels very outdated.
The site seems to be up and running now btw.
http://weareastronauts.org/core-…Core rocks!

Core is still a young cms and a personal project of mine. I've learned a lot while developing it, and that is/was the point. If I look back on earlier versions, like 0.5 and 0.6, they are horrible in comparison to what Core is now (as of v1.2).
There's still alot to do, and since I'm alone designing, developing, bug-testing, marketing and giving support updates may take a while. Anyway. With the new Core user registration, applying for it is easier than ever.
So if you haven't tried it, try it, whatever your reasons may be; developing a new website, looking for an alternative or just curiosity, just apply, if you don't like it, then you don't have to use it. :)

Cargo is brilliant, had not a single issue with my site, easy to upload images, tweak CSS...etc.

bloody hell... been trying to ask if Core is still alive and well though qbn keeps "Error:
Response: Your request has been denied due to the nature of its content."
- quamb0
^ wow. it worked.
question was - Core still around? applied but haven't heard a response.

There is a new CMS coming out. It's called Design Your Own Website™. I heard it's great and offers almost unlimited flexibility/ customization/ etc...
