Has anyone looked into it?
I've been going to Whistler BC during the winters and summers for years to snowboard and ride downhill. Now that I am on my own I really could work anywhere.
Also has anyone that is a freelancer here moved to a remote place and made it work without a city to help support your client base? I find I get about half my work here in town from meeting people.

if you plan to stay over a year you need an employer that REALLY wants you and will sponsor your residency.

You'll have to pay double the taxes if you move up here.

^ Had an uncle who tried moving here years back (lives in the UK), he was denied by the immigration folks due to not having a solid job lined up... even though he had relatives here. I think what Horton said about the employee sponsor thing is correct.
- yeah we don't take the jobless unless they're political refugees.zarkonite

If you're thinking of living in Whistler I would suggest having some solid freelance gigs sorted before you move. You're going to be hard pressed to find any work in the local community.
- Yea, I wouldn't imagine there to be design work there at all.squidy
- There is plenty of work if you want to get paid 500 bucks a job.2cents
- cause there's really not enough xtreme 20-somethings with macbooks and photoshop looking for some pass moneyhorton
- Not at all, I'd say they need at least another 100 hundred before they reach quota.2cents

and why is a yank complaining about canada work-visa policy... it's pretty relaxed, relatively speaking.

How about this. I go up there for Krankworks in a couple weeks. Then instead of coming home I park near a coffee shop with free wifi and live out of my Honda Element. Then again maybe not lol.

Come next year, the last place on Earth I would want to live is Vancouver/Whistler. That place is going to be on lockdown during the Olympics and probably even more boring than it usually is.

Or you can look for a company that will sign your work Visa.
