How do you set up final cut pro to edit in real time? (with out needing to render everything first)
I'm not using any effects, just simple been given imovie captured footage and wish to quickly edit it in fcp:
My footage is:
.DV / 720x576 / DV-Pal / Pal CCIR 601 / Lower(even).Anyone know the settings for a project sequence that i should use for that? Which compression i should use on the project sequence settings ?

The same as you have above.
press apple and 0 then make sure the settings match. What version are you using and have you made sure the footage you have is playing off an external at least firewire drive which spins at 7200 revs :).

ah... my footage is on a cheap little lacie at 5400revs...
using fcp 5.

Well you need to make sure your sequence settings are correct then after that I would recommend you swap drives if possible. You can certainly edit but performance will suffer considerably if you don;t get that 7200 drive (which is the minimum I can recommend).
