I suggest going to two clubby areas.
Meatpacking
and
27th st and 10th ave / 11th ave (where all the clubs are)- these are the only two places I'd stay away from :Pusrper

When I was there for work in june, I went to an indian club on 48th called Prana or something. I was the only white dude there. Had a blast!
