I am designing an exhibit and looking for a cool floor (looking like hardwood or other options). Does anyone have a good source or advide on materials or floor systems?

Ikea?

wood bricks could be neat.

it is for 800 sq ft and has to cover 0.5" thick steel base plates that support walls. I am thinking IKEA could work, but they would have to be built into modular units that can be assembled more quickly than laying a whole floor on day of set up...

cut pieces of crappy wood to shape then cover them with chemetal laminate that looks like nice wood. Then you could just throw it down real fast as long as its to shape. You could play with the laminate a bit and have some nice juxtaposition going on with different types.
Im just saying.
- this is a good idea. exept that chemetal shit gets costly. especailly for flooring.baseline_shift

dump sawdust on the ground for a "rustic" feel

3m has a line of vinyls that come in different wood grains. that can be easily applied with a slip-resistant laminate to any floor surface.
considering it's a trade show it can go down easily to cover the steel base.
