Quicktime Hi-Quality + AE

I've got some DV footage that I've imported into AfterEffects. but it looks 'blocky' and poor quality.
When i open the footage in Quicktime it looks the same. However in Quicktime pro, if I go to "show movie properties > video track > visual settings" - and tick on "High Quality" and "Deinterlace" I get the video looking great - nice and crisp.
I want to see it like that in AfterEffects.
Is there the same "High Quality" and "Deinterlace" setting within AE. I can't see it in the "interpret footage" settings.
Or do I need to export my footage with those settings on from QuickTime Pro (hope not as there are about 80 .dv files that I've captured)

have you clicked that little steps icon that switches between viewing low and hi-res?

Have you pinched your nipples and yelled really loud?

airey: tried that it was already set as 'hi-res' and it still looks poor.

is this thread any help?
http://forums.creativecow.net/th…maybe re-export from QT before importing to AE?

has something to do with what this software does:
http://syntheticaperture.com/pro…but it's a 'viewing only' setting. I want the hi-quality setting to be applied to the video so that when it's brought into AE it looks as sharp as it does in QuickTime.

right click footage in library / select "interpret footage" / check to see if you are in square or NTSC/PAL
- i've got all the right setting for this...felizfeliz
- jup, that could be the problemKiggen
- have you checkd your comp settings too to make sure they match?NONEIS

i think i'll just have to export from quicktime with the setting applied...
- There is nothing wrong with this solution, QT pro does a damn fine job for most things.NONEIS

from the above link:
"Setting draft- and high-quality, previewing, and rendering are complex topics that are covered extensively in the docos. "
- Sugary0
when you render do you have the output set to the quality you desire?

Got it sorted.
put my .dv footage straight into AE. Set "Separate Fields" to "Lower Field First" and then ticked the "Preserve Edges (Best Quality Only)".Comes out looking as crisp as a pancake.
- thx for letting us know. i'll keep that in the brain box for when i need it!airey
