("w00t" as in, I made it.)

Can someone write a script to determine the 1. total number of threads a user has commented to, and 2. of those threads what number of them ended after a comment from that user.
I worry that I am a thread killer.

I won one year but i feel like i won because i knew people. then i judged next year and people i knew won.
- svenreed0
dang only three pieces can be personal and the rest has to be professional? fucking fuckers
- gramme0
Funny to see you mention that EKUL, because I got the feeling I didn't get in this year because I *don't* know anybody. Heh.
- ...or perhaps you think too highly of your own work?francoisfido
- perhaps.gramme
- Young Guns really is a bro-down though. Whatever.gramme
- believe me — you think too highly of your own work.francoisfido

i refuse to enter that. too much studenty work in there. and i'm not a print designer, so what's the point. I'd rather just make bank =)
- gramme0
Enlighten me, francoisfido. Why should I believe you?
- I'll grant that I often take myself too seriously, but that's different.gramme
- the work stands in;conservative, conventional, tedious, amongst other adjectives your work fails to inspire within mefrancoisfido
- not crediting the standards of the ADC here--only commenting on a general un-eventfulness which runs through your outputfrancoisfido
- actually; i think you two deserve each other.francoisfido
- he says that to all the girlsprevious
- stewdio0
@wordsinyourmouth3 I can sympathize: I don't produce print work either. As for Young Guns, on a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate the success of your protest thus far?
- gramme0
Well francoisfido, in that case I'll bet you find a lot of the work by designers I admire to be tedious as well. I'd love to see some work from you that shows up my conservative, conventional, tedious, and uneventful (among other adjectives) output. Go ahead, inspire me.
- frankie? frankie?previous
- Mistuh Kurtz, he deadnilsnihil
- shall i guess who you like then? Brockmann? Vignelli? Bierut? while these boys may be tedious, at least they have balls.francoisfido
- —At least they have what? I like Bierut by the way, and Vignelli's good but not really my speed.gramme
- They just 'have'. He's being all mystical and holisticosmic.Orbit

Wow.
I think you are way out on a limb here Gramme.
To condemn an award as being cliquey and biased just because you didn't get selected is, well, a bit arrogant isn't it?
You applied for it, so it must mean something to you. You didn't get selected, and you are clearly smarting about that.
If you had been selected as you had obviously hoped to be, would that say good things about you or bad things about you, in light of your emergent opinion of the award?
If you had been selected, and everybody here commented that it was just a biased cliquey chums network, how would you have felt about that?

Gramme, let's face it, frankie doesn't come on here every day to tell us how amazingly polished his turds are. You do. You are a pompous cock who thinks every business card you produce is worthy of a hushed round of admiration, and are a relentless self promoter. This might be a fine quality for the big ego cock-size comparison type of business you aspire to, just be aware that most other people will behold you as a distasteful twat.

@stewdio - not really gunning for that type of thing. I'd like to just keep winning less individual ( ego-driven ) industry awards. I liken ADC young guns to winning the heisman trophy in college football and then being a regular joe in the NFL. It doesn't really determine how successful you will be. Unless of course, you measure success by those type of awards....

OK I'll grant that it was a really low blow for me to discredit the competition. Arrogant, even, as you said. My opinion was formed after I submitted work and chatted with a couple people about the nature of Young Guns. You have good points Orbit, and I agree that I was way out of line. Not exactly the picture of Christian humility.
Greedo, you're right in saying I'm a relentless self-promoter. I see it as a necessary evil what with the fierce competition we all face these days. And with mouths to feed, I can't simply sit back and quietly wait for visibility and new work to trickle in.
As far as being a pompous cock or someone who relentlessly tells the world how polished his turds are, I'd like to see you find specific examplesof me behaving this way (besides my out-of-line comments in this thread). Last time I checked, posting work for a crit, or announcing a website redesign, don't exactly qualify as being a cock. No way in hell do I think anything I produce is worth "a hushed round of admiration." Some people think my work is worth a shit, some don't, and that's just fine. I've produced plenty of mediocre and even bad work throughout my career. My shit stinks just as much as anyone elses.

At any rate, this thread got way out of hand, thanks largely to my own bad attitude. I don't carry ill will toward any of you. It's been pointed out to me by QBNers before, and is coming back again here, that I take myself too seriously. And maybe it's true what frankie and rasko have so tactfully pointed out—my stuff just isn't all that inspiring. Not yet anyway.
Time to lighten up.

to be honest, frankie doesn't like anybody's work except for dutch people I've never heard of
