I'm moving into a sassy new office this week. I'm trying to save a few bucks and put my old G5 Imac (pre-intel) to good use.
Is there any way to hook up my mirrored hardware raid and/or usb printer to this old imac and access it wirelessly from my MBP?
Ideally id like to make this machine "drive" my usb printer and usb time machine volume so I don't need to plug them into my laptop.
Is this possible?
thanks,
the noob

You won't be able to time-machine your laptop from there but could definitely use the box as a file-server w/ time machine as backup for that.
Should also be able to share your printer.
You'll still need to physically plug in the laptop if you want TM without buying a time-capsule for wireless backup.

Not true, Im using a old G4 Mac Mini to do just that. as long as you enable file/print sharing you can share files and your printers over your network.
to allow for Time Machine backups read this
http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/…- only drawback is my mac mini does not have USB2 so my USB drives are SLOW.inddg
