hmm...can you check the properties on the files and try and figure out what format they are in? By default Windows will not show the extensions on known file types so it could be that they are their and you are just not seeing them. A simple right click and then "properties" will reveal if Windows knows the format.
- what version of Windows? I can tell you how to make the file extensions viewable if you need help.designbot

designbot.. i checked it and filetype is just 'File' -the extension is missing even if i have show extensions checked... i tried plugging in an ext. w/ the usual suspects for formats but no dice

K, I would try opening it with QuickTime. Have you tried that?
If perhaps you don't have the right codecs installed to play the file, go and download ffdshow:
http://www.free-codecs.com/downl…
(this is probably the best codec pack out there)Also you could try giving it some of the more widely used extensions and see if that works..like "mp4, mov, wmv"
If the files not too large or confidential, you could send me one and I'll see what I can do....
- interesting, in qt i hear audio.. though levels are low but no video. i tried this by adding .movbrandelec

Okay, Windows Media Player 10 should play that...otherwise I think you just need some plugins for QuickTime and you'll be good.
I'm off to a meeting, good luck!

maybe try the 30 trial here and import them to sorenson , it handles a variety of file types and can squeeze down the file size if that is an issue
