erman octopus predicts Argentina W.Cup exit
(AFP) – 1 day ago
OBERHAUSEN, Germany — An octopus in Germany called Paul who has shot to stardom for his spot-on World Cup predictions forecast on Tuesday a quarter-final win by Germany over Argentina.
But in view perhaps of the tougher opposition that Diego Maradona's side will pose Germany on Saturday than England did last Sunday, the eight-legged soccer soothsayer took more than an hour to decide.
Ahead of the England game, which saw Germany's young guns demolish Fabio Capello's ageing Premier League stars 4-1, Paul needed just eight seconds to make up his mind.
Sunday's encounter in Cape Town, therefore, might go to extra time -- or even penalties.
Two plastic boxes, one with a German flag and one with their opponent's, are lowered into Paul's tank at Sea Life in Oberhausen in western Germany, each with a tasty morsel of food inside.
The box which Paul opens first is adjudged to be his predicted winner.
Earlier in the tournament, the eight-legged oracle correctly tipped Germany to beat Ghana and Australia in their Group D matches. And proving he is not just attracted by Germany's flag, he also correctly predicted a loss to Serbia.
Even though he was born in England, he also treacherously but correctly foretold Germany's win over his native country in their last-16 clash on Sunday.
Argentina coach Maradona should not throw in the towel just yet, however, as Paul has been wrong before. For the European Championships in 2008, his success rate was only 80 percent.

What a sad day of football-less work!
Streaming the games allowed quick/painless days of productivity!
Now; nothing!

My life feels so empty... No game today and it's a holiday here, so no work and no world cup, fucking boring.
I wanted to say this before and I forgot, how happy I am Domenech didnt bring Benzema to the WC, I bealive he's the best in France and probably one of the best in the world, lucky for Benzema he didn't have to be part of the French fiasco... Poor Platini and Zidane , must be really embarassed.

I hate football players in general.
compare them to ... in example.. cyclists.
millions of dollars vs. thousands..
faking tackles and pain vs. bike crashes against 60km/h and getting back on your bike ..I mean, common. 9 out of 10 tackles are worth a fucking oscar nomination.
See them whining on the grass, head down, covered by hands because they are probably laughing their ass off until the ref shows up.
I'm for argentina, ofcourse, they do it aswell, but I hate it. even if they do it.
I for one can't stand the whole time-stretching thing and would probably fine my own players a grand for each time they did it. argentina or not.- nvm. i'm stupid********
- haha, let's do something... let's play a quick game, and I can fake-tackle you a bit... give me 30 minutes and you will change your mind about pain, fake-tackles and injuries...OSFA
- your mind about pain, fake-tackles and injuries... 30 minutes, I promise.OSFA
- i mean schwalbes.********
- too late now missy! get your cleats and meet me at 6pm hahaOSFA
- yes football has become absolutely and completely pathetic. Its true.********
- nvm. i'm stupid

Brazil will not lose to Holland, I just don't see it happening. Uruguay and Ghana will be interesting, I predict 2-1 Ghana.

haha, still going...
Retrospectively watching back Nike's 'Write The Future' advert, you can't help but feel like the whole thing is a parody. From Cannavaro's sprightly dash to clear from his own goal-line, to Wayne Rooney's basking in national adulation, Nike's depiction of the world's biggest players (who also happen to wear their boots) flows like a satire aimed, as with an educational video shown at school, to show how great things are when done correctly.
- Did you hear what happened to Cristiano's statue? They took it down and beat it with their flip-flopsSoulFly

Read this one somebody's facebook:
Cristiano Ronaldo :"God sent me to earth to show people how to play football."
Messi : "I never sent anybody."
