Trying to look at differences between Macbooks and Macbook Pros that are refurbs to finally bring my lady into the modern age and abandon her virus riddled PC.
So the current line of Macbook refurbs don't mention the multi-touch trackpad... but they don't look any different than the new MBP's.
I can safely assume that the trackpad and functionality on both are exactly the same, right? This is the aluminum Macbook.
Thanks.

since the white 13" to the brand new 17" unibody.... all same functionality, the only hardware change was on the new macbook line that has a black keyboard and bezel around the screen... all of those trackpads are sans click button it is built into the lower third of the trackpad. im still getting used to it.. i liked having the actual button of the first generation mbook and mbookpro.
id say get the cheapest refurbed macbook you can find and upgrade the ram and HardDrive from Otherworldcomputing.com it will be an upgrade from anything ever made that runs XP/VISTA!

Didn't some of the last line update the trackpad to include iPhone-style controls (pinch, etc.)? They also dropped the button in the last revision if I'm not mistaken. The ones released before that only have optional trackpad clicking, two finger scrolling.
- the pinching works on my White Macbook 13" i think it just needed a firmware update.applepirate
- The FW update only works on late 2008 models and later.5timuli

So if by multi-touch you mean iPhone-style controls then no, only the new models do.

I think she's going to go with the current refurb MBP, we're just kind of comparing price and comparing against the new models.
Her priorities are getting something that will last a long time and work well. Doesn't do anything beyond regular Photoshop work, editing photos, etc. that would tax out the system. Likes the larger 15" screen as well.
