I'm actually getting more work and working out retainer fees with some new clients that give me constant work. so, things are pretty great for freelancers I think.

The economy is a stack of cards and probably has been for a while - a central part of the stack fell down.. but there are too many clever greedy people, with a vested interest in the economy getting back on track, for this recession to last this long.
Maybe the thing that gets the economy back will amount to a sticking plaster solution - but it will get back and sooner than the pessimists predict.

Not sure it will ever be like it used to be. People realised they were buying crap for ages and they just stopped doing it. Consumers are dumb, but not entirely stupid.
