Well, it's not really peer pressure,(although it gets annoying to have to tell people that i design on a PC just fine) i actually found myself enjoying the workflow on a Mac more. There is just something "pleasant" about the way the windows move and expand /contract, etc,... i found myself less tired at the end of the day. I cant explain it. The colors, they way macs render text. All that shit. Thanx for the responses.

get a mac, unless you want to spend your life fucking about.

Talk to someone you trust. Explain your problem, ask them to treat the information confidentially.
Hope this advice helps. I didn't actually read your post to be honest, it just looked so fucking amazingly boring.

So is this thread going in the direction you thought it would?
- must_dash0
do you despise yourself for saying 'thread'?

Get the pro. And a macbook down the road for mobility and so your girlfriend can use it to facebook when your not home and forget to plug it in and it has 20% battery left when you want to use it in the garage because your rebuilding a webber carb and have a video saved on it.
wait...what?

Seriously... If you need speed, get a desktop, either a hackintosh or a "real" power mac, I find the difference in speed very useful, I used to work on laptops, I love my hackintosh for photoshop, almost no waiting(!) I have a very cheap winblows laptop, good enough for me, as I don't have to bling my way into client meetings...
BUT ... if you need to impress clients at meetings or show your devotion to the cult, get a macbook pro and open it slowly after you hook it up to a loudspeaker audio system so everyone in the room can hear that sound when you press the ON button...

So pay prick near double for hardware that runs an OS that isnt as fast as windows, and is less compatible with design software.... u know it would be cheaper just to frost your tips if u want to look cool

deathboy is a h8er... without logic. an OS that isn't as fast as Windows?
Pull the other one. It's got bells on.
- adobe says its better on windows. i work on both and jsut say for half the cost and slightly better performance id rock a pc. sound logicdeathboy
- vista 64 sp2, needs tweaks out of the box but when its set is super stable and better performer then leopard.deathboy
- and with the extra money u can invest in a tranny midget horse flick

What about the new imacs that are coming out in September?
They look great, no wires or big boxyness to them, and surely they are powerful enough for web and design work right, perhaps not for film or 3d but I heard the mac pro graphic cards are not great...

I went Mac (in April), then I went back. I gave it a good solid couple of months though, and really wanted to be converted. The Mac was fun, and reeeeally glossy and nice and all that, but it just felt slower to work on UI-wise. Maybe my brain is too wired into using Windows and i'm unconvertable. Hmmm.

If you have the same brand of computer a client has, they won't respect you. They'll think, "WTF, I also have a Dell. This guy isn't anything special."
Whip out a 17" MBP, and they'll go "oooh" and feel more confident about you.
Silly. But true.

Ok, i've decided, i"ll get a 15 inch macbook for portability, client meetings, web surfing and a 8gb ram monster PC for the heavy shit (video/3D).

if you are in fact going to be purchasing a macbook look into apples refurbished products first. you'll save a bunch of cash over buying new. max out it's ram by ordering from crucial.com. not apple. enjoy and fuck a pc.
- good pitch, makes me think of doing just thatversion3
- Sounds good thanxJonnyPompa
