Why does my div with 100% width go beyond the browser window on the left?

the footer is inside the container, which has no width defined

hey, fixed it. was the x axis thing...
the rest of the code was all fucked up cause I was experimenting everything like crazy here and didn't cleaned it up before uploading...

Nevermind me, Esk. Actually, haven't build a site for +1 year now. I feel pretty outdated.
Uma verdade filha da put*, mas é o que eu sinto: um tipo perde o primeiro comboio e depois está feito ao bife, ou seja, deixas passar seis meses e o código parece uma grande maluquice :P

Ai. Pensava que estar aqui nos arredores de Coimbra fosse pior. Isto aqui tb não dá nada. Por acaso vim para aqui com um projecto que não resultou e estava com vontade de voltar aí para baixo. Mas estou a ver que está tudo janado.
