I bought one from "fastmac" but it was defective and started "bloating". I'm still waiting for the replacement from them...it's been like 3 months. I've recently sold my 15" MBP so I don't even know wtf I'll do with it when it finally shows up.
Don't buy from them.
- send it to zoiks, may I suggest?raf

I wouldn't get one off on ebay. How would you know what you're getting. Apple store all the way.

Well, Ebay has trillions of successful transactions yearly, you just need to read, if it says used and you want new, then don't buy it.
If it says new, unopened box with warranty, then there is no reason to not buy it. just saying.. you can also get defective product from Apple itself, in case you didn't know.

The battery reports the number of cycles and 'health' if you use System Profiler (or Apple Hardware Test?), so you can ask a reseller to tell you the values before buying. Same with a new battery from Apple.. If it doesn't report good health Apple would have to replace it, (and that includes throughout the warranty period). I've had Apple replace a battery even outside warranty if it degraded.

Not entirely true.. (the last part about apple that is)
Apple's customer service policies have gone down from what it used to be, these days you better be ready for a fight if you want them to replace a battery, and this is something that you most likely won't settle at the store, you will do through hours on the phone with customer service people asking you to mail the battery to them, and by letter.I have been in that situation 3 times in the past 5 years, even if its under warranty.
