Short answer is that you will be punching above your weight.
I would hand it over to one of the programmers, if only they had some decent Objective C dev experience.

Well, i've ordered the book so will see what kind of stuff I need to know to build this.
It's described as being for complete novices too.
It explains what apps are and how they work and how to make a good user experience, best practice etc, so I guess that even if I dont end up building the thing, it'll help me/us plan out a good app.

Well thats one definately a good thing regardless, having an intimate knowlege of the interface components and potential interactions can only make your apps better.
The other thing is that in a year when you've knocked out a few apps, you may be able to do it commercially too.
- ..then be able to move to OSX apps too.raf
- i hate to say it but flash is dead, jquery will kill it and 'proper' app development will come to the forethebottlerocket

yeah bottlerocket thats the idea, being able to create your own iphone applications would be amazing on its own, but being able to sell apps to clients would be quality.
especially for all the random ideas for apps i have stirring about in my head. hehe
