This whole thing screams of "but I want to win by throwing more money at the car than the little guys" and is akin to throwing your toys out the pram.
If they split there will be 2-3 seasons of 'F1' and 'waste of money racing' before they are forced back together again, just like Indy.
Personally I feel for the drivers, well all except Alonso who was a prick in this mornings Beeb interview.

Oh, and the Naomi Campbell thing before the last race, jesus...
What a joke.

I just find it funny how the action in F1 seems to happen off the track. Teams threatening to pull out, illegal diffusers, budget caps etc.
Just stage a decent race ffs. I've seen more action on local Kart tracks.

I think Schumi needs to come back and say how things are rollin!

Remember this day! Today F1 killed itself!

It's all Ecclestone's fault. He's got little man syndrome...

Holy crap $2.2 billion! Billion!!! Yeah that's what you get Mosley, you want budget cuts? Here's your goddamn budget cut!

So all the good teams are leaving to set up their own thing, leaving all the shite teams behind. F1 as it stands is fucked.

F1 is fucked.

FIA is a massive thing governing a variety of motorsport so it will continue to exist. F1 will exist in name, but when the major players (Ferrari et al.) create their own series, that will be the premier competition, not F1.
I'm happy about this. The way that F1 has been run - mainly what Ecclestone has done to it - has been horrendous. That man clearly puts himself above the sport.

If all the teams leave, how will the FIA exist anymore?
- It seems like Force India, & Williams are staying & Ferarri & Red Bull may have to (prior contracts) There's 8 cars.Brainiac

What downturn?

I guess F1 will either fold or need to find some more manufacturers to join. It may open the door for Honda and Lotus to make a return? or maybe some Chinese brands.....OH NO!!

I stopped watching. Brawn always wins.
I heard a theory Brawn only were allowed to go with the diffuser so that Ross Brawn would stay with the team and wouldn't run for FIA president, where he'd likely win. In other words, they were given sure victory and Max Mosley's position as the president was safe. Or something along these lines.

It's a shame.....considering this is the best season in about 15 years.

isn't this how CHAMP car was started and that didn't last very long at all.
