I THINK this would make the Mac Pro a viable option for 3D.

At Realtime Worlds we have great workstations. The rig i bought is perfect for creating 3D content while at home, then continue the work at our studios.
Personally speaking, Apple lost a customer due to their inferior set up starting at £1,899.00.

Apple was aimed to the "pro" market till the iPod explosion, after that they realized that its better to sell to anyone that wanted to feel pretentious about "having a better computer for no particular reason". The days when Apple computers were used by design / photo/ video professionals are gone, just look at this:
the majority of people these days use their macs for tweeting or updating colorful tiled backgrounds on their myspace profiles.

As annoying as the Apple fanatics are, I can't-fucking-stand the anti-Apple crowd. You're upset because your specific, tiny, segment of the market isn't being served by Apple, so you bitch about it on here. Apple has had a great symbiotic relationship with "creatives" for a while now. They made a great OS and hardware that works for graphic designers, photographers and video editors. If you're a web developer, you'd be better served working on a PC/Windows because you need to test for your audience. If you're a 3D guy, perhaps you'd like to use PC/Linux like the rest of the 3D guys since it's better served for your needs. I don't really see the problem here. Macs aren't for everyone but for some of us they work very well and speed up our workflow tremendously. So, is this a fail for Apple? Not likely. It's a fail for your ego because your argument is retarded. Move along, nothing to see here.

Oh, as far as the photo with the guy in the coffee shop with the Mac desktop: I've been to several coffee shops that have iMacs. They attract people that buy coffee while they surf the internet or check their e-mail but don't have a laptop. Didn't think of that, did you dumbasses?

@ Creez. Not really. I switched 5 years ago from pc to mac. And that was a wise choice. I'm open to critics about mac, i'm not happy with the last line of computers. But the sad rant from Killler is very laim.

Also, I've always found it completely bizarre that on QBN, a DESIGN site, people complain about Apple being all about "looks" (the industrial & interface design) and being more pricey then PC.
I mean... shit. Simple fucking logic why Apple's stuff costs more - especially if you're in the design field, spending every working hour aiming for A+ design, even if it pushes your own time and a client's budget further. Right? Obviously not.

Apple is definitely behind with the Mac Pro line. The entry level Mac Pro comes with 3GB of ram. Most Apple laptops come with 4GB. I'm sure they'll be replacing the Mac Pro lineup soon.

Is this thread just somebody going into deep geek mode, or is this a legitimate problem. I just bought a MBP 2.66GHz. I use C4d quite frequently - never had any problems. What exactly make the NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics processor so bad for 3d apps.?
