Is there a way to reset the phone to get 2.2 back instead of being in update prison for more than a day already?

if your update is taking forever delete some apps, I deleted just about all of them then synced up afterwords , update took less than 15 mins after download
as for downgrading,
usually a hack will be out any time soon to go from 3.0 ->2.2

I tried to updated my iphone to 3.0 and I keep getting this error after I dowloaded the update

I tried taking my sim card out and putting it back in and nothing
- Apparently it needs to be activate again and it doesn't recognize the sim. Could be Apple servers are overloadedraf

you f'd something bud. go to the apple support page and do some searching. I am almost certain there is a support page for this issue. as long as you are 100% apple and no jailbreak you are golden. if not, you are on your own bud.

a guy at my work has the same problem; a friend of his installed the developer version of the 3.0 on his phone a few months ago, then when he tried to install the final 3.0 release it brick'd out.

No MMS upgrade on the first gen iPhone due to lacking certain hardware introduced in 3G model is lame as fuck an excuse.
Third party apps could do MMS on the first gen two years ago. Not that I miss MMS, but it's pathetic to lie to the users so blatantly.
Still, no SMS receipts continues to be iPhone's biggest WTF for me. My first mobile phone had this 10 years ago.

joseprieto, just jailbreak your phone, this will solve this and also open some possibilities with 3rd party software - ie. there is a plugin that lets you play many types of video on websites.
You need to download latest pwnage tool, create custom patched firmware file with it and restore your phone with this file. Best thing is to have someone experienced do it, but it's not essential.
