The Rainbow Editor is a nice solution.
Are you aware of this: http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.d…

Top one is free, $99 per site to edit live xml fileshaven't used the live version yet but dished it to a client that didn't have any issues using ftp.
Haven't found anything else this easy.

Excellent tutorial here on integrating slideshow pro with expression engine. Though SSP director would probably do the trick. Why the self build solution?

slideshow pro, plus flickr is a decent, quick solution. You can strip all the ui and graphics from the component, and then plug it into a flickr account providing a clean, easy to understand CMS to the client. Other than that, you should stick with basic XML, or figure out how to parse flickr sets, it's pretty easy.

do a search, I think there is a free Air application to edit XML and I think it could be used for your client or something similar..

Yeah, I think XML wins. I like this tutorial.
http://www.kirupa.com/developer/…(especially since AS3 scares the living shit out of me if I have to get billable work done)
If the client is ok with learning a little XML, then I'll go that route.

XML. Quick meeting to show them how to edit. That's it.

XML

also an as2 wrapper..

flickr or wordpress would work with flash elements, though i would use flickr in this case as it's simpler, and hey look, an api all ready to go...

Some questions about Joomla. I didn't really know what it was until I just looked it up. What did you use for virtualization? If you used Parallels, did you have any trouble? How is the Flash integration?

I did this the other day - Just set up Joomla for the client to do their uploading/publishing etc, then just wrote a custom script that read the database fields, and pointed the flash slideshow at that script..
Most tricky part was tracking down exactly how Joomla put the data about the images into the database, once I had that down, it was a simple php/mysql query, echoing out the xml bits... Is this something you might be interested in persuing ?- Im such a nob - I meant Drupal. Fuck me, sorry. Still on pain meds for my teeth.mikotondria3

That is a nice tool, but like Rippedursite said, I'd like to build one myself. (Ironic for a sitethief to say that.)

This has to be a flash element on a page. Flickr or Wordpress won't do in this case.

that’s all....
- Plus Director. Your total investment is like $70 for both.ArmandoEstrada
- nice tool, i'd prefer to get a free one and build it myself. but this is really cool.rippedursite
- the regular + flickr is far easier for a client to grasp.NONEIS

CMS is prolly overkill and way too expensive to implement (but it depends on the budget of course). I'd just show them how to edit an XML doc....
- rippedursite0
you can hook pre built CMS sites to your Flash site:
-wordpress
-flickr
-etc..there is a flash CMS but it's going to need to be able to process your clients' images (size, rotation, aspect, etc) so it needs to be robust. i'd go with one like flickr.
- epikore0
I think there was a flash cms somewhere

If you have a client that wants to update images and corresponding captions in a Flash slide show. What are the best options? Setting up a form?, giving access to an .xml doc? A general approach as a response is probably enough for now. I'm only give a quote at this point.
Thanks in advance.
