try other settings too, you can get some great lo-fi effects with saving out gifs at lo-fi settings, fiddle with the pattern and also reduce the number of colours too.

Another way to achieve this:
Image >> Mode >> BitmapChose Halftone screen in the method drop down, and then the shape style you want on the second pop up.
Play with the output resolution and the screen frequency to get different results.
