I heard that some of the guys at the D&AD ceremony (i.e. the old school designers) were incredibly bitter that a 26 year old won a Black pencil, while they have been slogging their guts out for an entire career without winning pish.
Unlucky them.

My GF bought me the "presentation pack" of these coins from teh Royal Mint. They stay in mint condition this way. So like Baskerville yes I am a little bit of a geek
Love it

Anyone else left utterly cold by the D&AD site and the way it presents the winning designs? I wanted to come away feeling, er, anything from looking at the winners and instead was just pissed off at the lack of information and background to the pieces. Crap.

I've been a geek and managed to collect all 7 of them over the last few months. I really like them, I'm glad that an interesting idea finally was applied to something public

Love those coins - rarely see them though.

They feel / look German don't you think?
Cracking win.

So the new UK coins have won the rarely awarded Gold (black) D&AD award. Good on Matthew Dent who designed them winning the public competition with his entry. Not bad for a 26 year old
