I'm working with a metrics company that wants to buy a program to make charts and graphs that are more customizable/stylish than what Excel can pump out, and is also able to export the graphs as PDF or JPEG files.
Can anybody recommend anything?
Thanks in advance!

not knowing what Excel can do - i 'd suggest "numbers" in iLife 09 [ mac osx ] - our accounts dept. go mental with that shit every month. very simple/easy to use looks ok - kinda...

Thanks for clarifying, fiesta. That looks like a good option.
Anyone know of anything that's not Mac specific?

The last time I researched this, there were A LOT of windows graphing packages, but most made rather ugly graphic results... aimed at numbers people rather than designers.... written in VB, etc....
I did however find some nice flash-based packages, as well as one in jquery, but those don't generate PDF, PNG or JPG...I'm sure something better is out there....
