Animated comics?

I'm just starting a couple of projects based around online/digital animated comics. I'm looking at the different techniques used and what give the best end user experience. ..?
In simple terms we could transfer the comic into a flash pageflipper or pdf style browser (similar to Marvel); but I was looking to use more of the browser real estate (to show and highlight detail in the comic) I came across this one QBN a while back http://www.trueittales.com/ which is pretty nice in terms of staging the comic events and adding some interactivity...
Just wondered if anyone has seen anything worth looking at?
thanks in advance :)

@vivids note:
It was situated in a futuristic city. The main character went in and out of daydreams (alternative reality to him).. In the first episode he sees a metro-car for a whale on a crane.
