    designers aren't dictators. you are providing a service to the client. it is all about diplomacy and good, constructive thinking and get all the priorities that would shape the design of your logo in order. So, try to 'read' the clients intentions or ideas, and if it can't be done (at the cost of legibility etc.) you should carefully but concisely motivate your decision to shy away a little from his enthousiasm of being a designer himself.

    like i said, diplomacy.
