Hey guys, Im designing some posters & some tickets for my stag/bachelor party/fundraiser.
Im going for that vintage wrestling poster look but Im having trouble deciding which one to use. They're being letterpressed so they should look pretty authentic.
Any preferences? Suggestions? I'd also like a different nickname possibly
thanks you guys are the best! ...sorta

Pretty cool, I like it. Although less impactful than the examples you posted because of the color choices.
- letterpressing 2 colors is more expensive :( any suggestions?imnotadesigner

you guys aren't digging the line "retirement match aka stag party" too much?
- "retirement match" works better if you're not doing it for your own party imoismith
- whys that?imnotadesigner
- it feels like its trying too hard to me, but only you can really make that call for yourselfismith
- i was kinda going for a bit of cheese factor, but ill think about it.imnotadesigner
- you could keep it– it just sounded forced to me because not many people I know would put that for themselves without overthinking it.ismith
- overthinking it.ismith
- what about "death match","texas strap match" or "lumberjack match"imnotadesigner
- those have a certain nostalgia to themimnotadesigner
- haha they're all good, use any of themismith

the "wear" of it seems too static or something.... trying to make it look old, but still too clean i feel. go all the way or not at all...

fiver- good point. actually, they're being letterpressed so I dont think the "wear" will apply to the plates. Im gonig to remove it before I send off the files.
- letterpress andthe kind of stock will definitely help..... nice one.fiver
- I may be able to get my hands on some cranes.imnotadesigner

did you give yourself that nickname?

it seems like you need more shit. i like the authentic posters you pulled for inspiration all have that "too much shit on the page" style the best:
but urs are good too if you're happy with the outcome. i like the red, maybe print them on a dirtier looking stock? something that looks yellowed from tobacco or something.

I would say tighten up the spaces a bit more. your references look good when it's too cluttered, and also when there's a bigger scale difference in the type. it gives me something to notice first- now there's too much space between everything and nothing really catches my eye. I have to search for the information. maybe try giving it a bigger difference in scale with the type to help this.

A bit loose (spacing-wise) but it does have that retro feel. I personally would've pulled a little visual inspiration in from the old Pentagram Public Theater work, which are very similar to the posters posted by rippedursite above:
