Hi,
Anyone toured Victoria's Southwest and driven the Lorne to Colac Rd?????
I'm heading from Melbourne to Hamilton on Friday and I've got about 9hours to make the 4 hour trip. I was thinking about taking the Great Ocean Rd to Lorne stopping and taking some photos on the way and then cutting through Colac on the back highways up to Hamilton.
Any thoughts????

I've only got 9hrs, and a 7 and 5yr old to think of as well. They've been wanting to go hiking though, but I'm guessing to them that is 5 minutes of walking and then a shoulder ride from Dad - which is hard if they both want that.

maybe just make the most of lorne and the part of great ocean road you will be doing. hours will fly by at the beach or in the forest.
not much up in colac as far as I can remember...

didn't really plan to spend much time in Colac. Was just going to stop driving every hour or thereabouts so the kids could have a little walk (unless they fall asleep).

colac's a hole - but torquay/anglesea/lorne are awesome.

Torquay is a dump as well. Full of bogans. Just hang out in Lorne...or swing past Bells Beach.

yes, yes in fact I have... Colac indeed seemed dreadful, so did Geelong, so did Apollo Bay... Lorne seemed pretty though.. Crazy winding roads though, hope you don't get carsick easily...

Thanks for all the advice!
None of us get carsick thank goodness, and the kids love photography so I really do want to get down at least as far as Lorne without adding too many hours driving.
