*ahem*
anyone want to throw this together?
i'd do it myself but that shit looks hard.

It's at times like this I wish I had a cobalt bomb in my possession.

my personal feeling about it is that all we need is the PV, since browsing public and editor's choices would be lame on such a small screen
- ernexbcn0
I'd do it for some donations, but I'd need some JSON or XML hooks for the Public Voice comments.
There's a similar app done for a website called shacknews.com that's mainly for viewing the "chatty" where the community basically chats about anything like here in QBN, the app is called "latest chatty"

if I could code, I would help ya.
- scarabin0
if any of us had the knowledge and time to do it it would have been done already i suppose
- Nairn0
Instead we're all ignorant baboons, trilling stupidly, grooming ineptly and flicking little bits of shit at each other.

I say we all decamp to twitter and be done with it.

What's the process for iPhone app development and how much?
- MikeDubs0
I'm not sure if Apple will approve it with the "girl of the day" thread.
- the app I referred to as an example managed to overcome that with a NWS settingernexbcn
- not safe for work setting, it was easy because the moderators tag the posts...ernexbcn
- would go hand and hand with http://chillifresh.c…BattleAxe
- so don't bump it while it's being reviewedscarabin

If the QBN bosses around here like the idea I can help on the code side, and we'll need some work on the server side for the app to work too (my best choice would be to create an API to access Public Voice with output in JSON)
Imagine the possibilities of mobile Public Voice with photo upload (to imagefrog, imageshack etc. that inserts the URL on the post at the moment of posting)... well that can turn out to be nasty actually, I'm not sure I'd want to see you around the bar being wasted
- capn_ron0
i would download it if you all made it.
- scarabin0
i would even pay for it

I just use safari, seems to work pretty well.
- BattleAxe0
is there at least an RSS for PV?

Anyone old enough to remember NT mini and how bad reception such ideas had from the Qoob, ie. threads disappearing?
What I'm saying is, the outlook is not so good.
- brains0
I suppose the negative effects for the Qoobs is that it deters traffic from the site, ie. Pageviews, daily unique visits etc, which probably doesn't help in the way of advertising.
- foobaz0
Soooo I was just sort of curious if it was even possible to display and link off the PV and this is what I came up with...

Take a look on the iphone if you have one...
*ducks ridicule*

things have gone mobile since then, and they could put adspace in it
offest dev costs by using credited volunteer work
maybe introduce some new feature exclusive to (or premiered in) the app, like your phone goes "newstoday!" when you're near another cue-beaner or something. some networking thing maybe.
