can somebody tell me how to switch the selection bounds from black lines back to the way they have always been forever - black and white dotted lines that move so you can actually see them on a black background?
wtf happened and how come I can't find an answer?

put an invert adjustment layer on top and select with that turned on

it's probably a bug, I remember shit like that from CS3, it wouldn't show the selections, or wouldn't let me edit text in some cases. I just worked around that shit, but it was usually back to normal on restart of photoshop and/or windows.

my copy of cs4 selection lines are normal. using the 32 bit version on vista64
