- how do you call this effect, delay or something? and i think i had a plugin that did it good but i dont remember.

Thats video feedback with some color distortion, back in the day you would do those in real time w/ hardware video mixers.
(the same effect you get if you plug your camera to a tv or computer and shoot the preview window while camera is capturing.
I think on after effects, there is something similar called delay, its not the same you show here though.

sometimes called blitter feedback when its on computers

the feedback is inserted into a luma punchout there, using the black fond (see it's also within black hair). if you want to control it properly, you need bluescreen footage.

It works better if you do it on black background, because the effect might be based on using luminance of the image to do the repetitions, look how michael's face is almost translucent when the feedback is going on..
I remember thinking this was the cheesiest effect when I was a kid, now I think it looks amazing haha
